Year 5 - University of Oxford Class

Welcome to Year 5 - University of Oxford Class.  The Class Teacher is Mr Bevan. The Teaching Assistant is Miss Chapman.

 Useful information

  • Our Outdoor PE day is on Monday, and this half term we will be doing Basketball. Please bring a suitable pair of trainers for outdoor PE as well as your usual kit.
  • Our Indoor PE day is on Thursday, and this half term we will be doing Self Defence. You may wear plimsolls as well as your usual kit.
  • Homework will be given on Wednesday and this will be due in on the following Monday.

 

Spring 1 learning

In English, we will be looking at the text ‘Skellig’ where we will be writing predictions about the text; retell the story in our own imaginative way and an information leaflet.

Our Maths learning will be learning to multiply and divide decimals by whole numbers, compare and classify 2D and 3D shapes by looking at the area and perimeter of them whilst exploring and measuring angles within the shapes.
 

Our Humanities learning focuses on The Vikings where we will learn about how they lived, when they came to the UK and how they became a part of UK society.
 

In Science, we will be looking at ‘Materials and Their Properties’ whereby we will be carrying out some exciting experiments to allow us to identify and compare the properties of different materials.
